3/16" or 4mm diameter Thin heating cables are the industry standard for floor warming applications under tile.  A popular choice by ceramic tile installers and electricians who install these regularily.  Thin heating cables offers installers more flexibility in their layout and determining heating capacity of the system.  Cable spacing can tightened in colder areas as a primary heat source or widened when floor warming is only required.  

Floor warming is becoming accepted as a proven means of heating under other flooring such as laminate, engineered hardwood and vinyl flooring.  Care must be taken when installing thin heating cables to ensure they are not damaged until they are covered in a protective layer of mortar or self-leveling cement.
